Franchise push drives Bata India past 700 stores across country
It plans to double the pace of new store openings.
Bata India has crossed 700 franchise stores across India, with nearly 70% in Tier 2, 3, and 4 cities, highlighting its push into emerging markets.
The company plans to accelerate its expansion by doubling the pace of new franchise store openings, signaling confidence in sustained demand for branded footwear in smaller markets.
“The franchise model has become a strong pillar of our retail expansion strategy because it brings together the strengths of both partners,” said Badri Beriwal, chief strategy officer and chief business development officer at Bata India.
“Our franchise partners bring deep local market understanding and on-ground operational efficiency, whilst Bata brings strong brand equity, consumer trust, and a wide portfolio,” he added.
For franchise partners, Bata offers a relatively accessible entry point, with initial investments estimated at ₹35–40 lakh.
