OWNDAYS Singapore cuts $20 on eyewear

The initiative aims to alleviate inflation stress for consumers.

Optical retailer OWNDAYS Singapore, has announced a price reduction of $20SGD across over 200 of its eyewear designs.

In an exclusive interview with Trevor Hwong, General Manager of OWNDAYS Singapore, the said precise reduction will be permanent as part of the brand’s way to ensure the affordability of its products for Singaporeans.

"We took this initiative permanently to reduce $20," said Hwong, acknowledging the global financial challenges faced by consumers. "Hopefully, by this, we are able to relax the stress level of inflation for Singaporeans."

This move comes at a time when the cost of living pressures are intensifying worldwide, and companies are finding innovative ways to support their customers.

Hwong explained OWNDAYS Singapore's strategy to absorb these costs without burdening customers. "Our business model in Singapore is D2C (Direct to Consumer), which allows us to eliminate all middlemen, achieving cost efficiency."

He further attributed their capability to manage costs to the global presence of OWNDAYS, which boasts 500 stores worldwide and a production volume exceeding 3.5 million units annually.

Hwong highlighted the increasing popularity of translucent frames and the brand's exclusive Snap Series, which features sunglasses that conveniently clip onto prescription frames. "These are the most popular trends we have noticed," Hwong remarked, indicating the company's intent to align its product offerings with current consumer preferences.

Looking ahead, OWNDAYS Singapore is set to broaden its retail footprint across the nation and enhance its range of services. "We are working closely with our merchandise team in Japan to redesign our collection, incorporating translucent frames and the Snap Series," said Hwong. This initiative is particularly tailored to Singapore's climate, where the demand for versatile and functional eyewear is high due to the sunny weather conditions.
