Foodpanda’s local consumers, merchants, and delivery partners will be smoothly integrated into Uber Eats.
Uber Technologies, Inc. has announced its agreement to acquire Delivery Hero’s foodpanda delivery business in Taiwan for $950m in cash.
Additionally, Uber has entered into a separate agreement to purchase $300m in newly issued ordinary shares of Delivery Hero.
The acquisition of foodpanda Taiwan is contingent upon regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions, with a targeted closing date set for the first half of 2025.
Until the completion of the acquisition process, Delivery Hero assures its commitment to maintaining the seamless operation of foodpanda Taiwan, ensuring continued top-notch service for its loyal customers and vendors.

“In order to build a world-leading service, we have come to the conclusion that we need to focus our resources on other parts of our global footprint, where we feel we can have the largest impact for customers, vendors and riders,” said Niklas Östberg, CEO and co-founder of Delivery Hero.
“This deal gives foodpanda an exciting runway in Taiwan and we wish them all the best in their next chapter,” he added.
Following the closure of the deal, there will be a transition phase where foodpanda’s local consumers, merchants, and delivery partners will be smoothly integrated into Uber Eats, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
“Bringing together our distinct customer bases, merchant selections, and geographic footprints will allow us to deliver more choices and the best prices for consumers, stronger demand for restaurants, and more earnings opportunities for delivery partners,” said Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty, senior vice president of delivery at Uber.
