Amazon has invested more than S$2b in Singapore this year across its retail and cloud businesses.
The investment includes spending on infrastructure improvements, such as fulfillment centers, delivery stations, and data centers, as well as technology upgrades, employee compensation, and programs for customers, delivery partners, and small businesses.
The company’s investment supported over 4,000 indirect jobs in construction, logistics, and professional services, according to Keystone Strategy. Additionally, a survey by Amazon showed that businesses selling on its platform created more than 6,000 jobs to support Amazon-related activities, bringing the total impact to over 10,000 indirect jobs in 2023.
“Since the start of our operations in Singapore in 2010 and the launch of Amazon.sg in 2019, we’ve been able to invest and grow our presence in the country with the support of our customers and selling partners,” said Peter Li, director, China & Singapore, International Store, Amazon.
“We’re humbled to see our investments unlock growth opportunities for businesses in Singapore and are proud to continue to support Singapore's economy and digitisation,” he added.
