European e-commerce platform Kooomo breaks into Asia

Irish-based cloud digital commerce platform Kooomo launched its offering in Asia via a strategic hub based in Singapore in April this year.

Kooomo will service a range of digital commerce clients from its Singapore hub, with aims to grow its client base across Singaporean and South-east Asian markets.

Ciaran Bollard, managing director at Kooomo said the sky is the limit for its Asian operations. “Kooomo is the Apple of digital commerce, with a cloud platform that’s full of features to scale any business, but designed with simplicity and the end-user in mind. It’s a product tailor made for the demands of Asian digital commerce businesses.”

He went on to cite research by market research company eMarketer expects retail digital commerce sales to increase to S$4.058 trillion (US$ 2.93 trillion) in 2020, which will represent 14.6% of total global retail. Hence, brands simply cannot afford not to develop a strong digital commerce presence, both in Ireland and internationally. Bollard opined. “With digital commerce booming and global retail digital commerce sales due to hit $1.915 trillion this year, growing businesses shouldn’t accept anything less.”

Founded in 2000, Kooomo is used by some of the world’s largest brands such as sandal brand Havaianas and outdoor sports gear brand La Sportiva. Besides Singapore, the firm has operations in Italy, Ireland, the United States, and United Kingdom.
