Single’s Day is the most extensive shopping event in SG: report

The event increased online retail sales by 223% in 2021.

Amongst shopping events held in the last three months of the year, Single’s Day was the most popular amongst consumers.

Commerce media company, Criteo, has found that the event boosted online retail sales by 223% last year, more than Doubles Day and Black Friday figures.

Doubles Day events like 10.10 and 12.12 only increased online retail sales by 78% and 72% respectively in 2021, whilst Black Friday pushed sales up by 71%.

During Single’s Day, purchases were also up by 35% compared to the average during the last week of October 2021.

“Every year, Singles Day in Singapore sees a boost in online retail sales, a trend echoed across Southeast Asia. Therefore, brands and retailers must understand the consumer landscape to maximise this event's impact,” said Taranjeet Singh, Criteo's Managing Director for Southeast Asia and India.
