Wholesale retailer Makro expands Philippine footprint with 4 Ayala Land stores
Expansion targets growing residential and business communities.
Makro Philippines is set to open stores in four Ayala Land mixed-use estates in Luzon under newly signed land lease agreements, expanding its presence across Metro Manila and Southern Luzon.
The agreements cover Cloverleaf in Balintawak, Quezon City; Broadfield in Biñan, Laguna; Arca South in Taguig City; and Evo City in Kawit, Cavite.
Makro will develop and operate stores at Cloverleaf, Broadfield and Evo City. At Arca South, the wholesale retailer will operate within Ayala Malls Arca South.
The four locations give Makro access to established and emerging residential, commercial, and business centres. Cloverleaf is located at the junction of EDSA and the North Luzon Expressway, while Arca South serves as a commercial and transport gateway to southern Metro Manila.
Broadfield is being developed as Ayala Land’s first business campus in Laguna, with locators from manufacturing, logistics, and business services. Evo City is located in Kawit, Cavite, one of Luzon’s growing urban corridors.
Makro will offer fresh and dry food, imported products and non-food essentials through its physical stores and e-commerce platform, serving both businesses and households.
Makro Philippines is a joint venture between Ayala Corporation and Thailand-listed CP Axtra Public Company, which operates the Makro and Lotus’s brands.
Under the lease agreements, Ayala Land will retain ownership of the properties in Cloverleaf, Broadfield, and Evo City, whilst Makro will develop and operate the stores.
