MAC Cosmetics unveils first ‘Store of the Future’ in Seoul
The design channels the feel of an artist’s toolkit and backstage studio.
MAC Cosmetics has opened its first “Store of the Future” at Lotte World Mall in Seoul, South Korea, introducing a retail format built around interactive experiences rather than traditional shopping.
"We can't wait to welcome people into this next chapter of the MAC experience," said Nicola Formichetti, global creative director of MAC.
The store’s design draws inspiration from an artist’s toolkit and backstage makeup environments, using stainless steel, black finishes, and industrial elements throughout the space.
The concept combines retail displays with areas intended for experimentation, product discovery, and makeup exploration.
A central feature is a floral installation created by New York-based studio Flover, which contrasts the store’s industrial aesthetic with a more surreal, organic design element.
