SM Supermalls
Joaquin San Agustin’s 30-year mastery of marketing finds its genesis in the Fast- Moving Consumer Goods industry, with his primary clientele being leaders of the mid-market segment.
It is this experience that molded his approach of transformative consumer-centric communication that not only delivers results but echoes, then shapes consumer preference. This is the most evident in the launch of Talk N’ Text and PLDT MyDSL in the Philippines, two pioneering telecommunications products that gave Filipinos accessible connectivity options in a fast-growing mobile market still in its infancy in the early 2000s.
Known to his colleagues simply as Jon Jon, he believes the most impactful marketing can always be found in what is simple, straightforward, and true. Presently, he lends his expertise to retail giant and leading Philippine mall chain SM Supermalls, serving as its Executive Vice President for Marketing. He leads strategies spanning digital, advertising, corporate marketing, media, mall marketing, and crisis management.
Under his direction, SM Supermalls received multiple industry distinctions, the most notable of which are ASEAN’s Strongest Retail Brand of 2025 from Brand Finance, the Agora Award in 2018 for Marketing Company of the Year and a triple win as Organization of the Year at the Asia Pacific Stevie Awards in 2025, 2019 and 2018.
