lululemon brings Tokyo culture into new retail space in Jingumae
Design draws inspiration from Yoyogi Park, Harajuku and Omotesando.
lululemon has opened a new multi-level store in Tokyo’s Jingumae district, bringing together elements of Harajuku and Omotesando’s street culture, green spaces and local design.
The 13,130-square-foot store features 9,600 square feet of retail space across two levels. Its column-free layout is designed to allow customers to move freely throughout the store.

The three-story facade combines expansive storefront glazing with bespoke stone panels, creating a soft and elevated presence within the surrounding architectural landscape.
Inside, the store features hand-raked plaster walls, flowing ceilings, timber accents and colours inspired by the Pacific Northwest. Fitting rooms use local wood species and curved designs intended to encourage interaction and social engagement.

The store also places community at its centre, highlighting local ambassadors and places to exercise in Harajuku.
A staircase featuring forged sequoia tiles and rich timber adds another focal point to the interior, whilst local art and craft are incorporated throughout the space.
The design draws inspiration from the surrounding Tokyo community, including Yoyogi Park, Harajuku and Omotesando.
