Hermès reopens renovated Chengdu store
Showcases the house’s 16 métiers across two floors.
Hermès has reopened its renovated store in Chengdu, Sichuan province, China, incorporating local architecture and cultural traditions into its design.
The store reopened on 23 September 2026 at Taikoo Li, an open-air mall where Hermès has operated since 2014. It showcases the house’s 16 métiers across two floors.
Designed by Paris-based architecture firm RDAI, the store features a facade of dark wood, matte metal and amber-toned glazed ceramic, with tall windows covered by bamboo screens and curtains.

The ground floor uses jade green and deep blue alongside mineral motifs inspired by local craftsmanship. It houses silk and fashion accessories, leather goods, fragrance and beauty, and men’s collections.
A textured wood wall leads to the leather goods area, which features handwoven rugs with pixelated patterns inspired by steam rising from Chengdu’s teahouses.
The fragrance and beauty area includes black ceramic tiles referencing traditional Sichuan pottery and offers views of Daci Temple.
A smoked-wood staircase leads to the first floor, which houses the women’s collection and home goods in deep espresso tones. The jewellery and watches area features calligraphic forms engraved on the walls, referencing Chengdu’s poetic heritage.
The interior combines sculptural textures, organic-shaped furniture, and natural tones, with lines, shadows and light used throughout the space.
The store also displays works from the Émile Hermès Collection and the Hermès Collection of Contemporary Photographs. French photographer Massao Mascaro presents a black-and-white image of braided hair inspired by weaving techniques, while Romanian artist Mircea Cantor presents two horses drawn in India ink in a single stroke.
