Hermès refreshes Kaohsiung boutique with port-inspired design

Store now spans two floors inspired by the city’s port and architecture.

Hermès has reopened its renovated and expanded store at Hanshin Mall in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

The store, which first opened in 1996, now spans two floors. Designed by Paris-based architecture firm RDAI, the renovated outlet draws inspiration from Kaohsiung's port, urban architecture and material heritage, blending modern and traditional design elements.

The ground floor houses silk, fashion accessories, leather goods, jewellery, watches and fragrances. A ribbed oak staircase inspired by shipping containers connects the space to the lower level, where women's and men's ready-to-wear, footwear, home furnishings and equestrian collections are displayed.

The store’s interiors incorporate sculpted wood partitions, natural mineral surfaces, and rugs inspired by the undulations of boats’ wakes, with colours ranging from marine blues to orange hues reflecting the setting sun.

The store also showcases works from the Émile Hermès Collection and the Hermès Collection of Contemporary Photographs. Featured artworks include photographs of the Cornish coastline by French photographer Aurore Bagarry and Warm Grey 2, an abstract painting by Colombian artist Francisce G. Pinzón Samper.
